          One Nation One Tax

          Dear All,
he National Green Tribunal (NGT) – Principal Bench, New Delhi has given its judgment
Trecently on 10th August, 2017 stating for consideration in the case on Plastic Carry Bags.
In its order the NGT has express its dissatisfaction to the manner in which the Government of
NCT Delhi has taken steps to implement the Waste Management Rules to prevent and control
the pollution and environmental degradation resulting from indiscriminate use and dumping of
plastic waste, more particularly, the carry bag of thickness less than 50 microns which are being
used in the market and it is one of the principal ingredients of environment hazards in Delhi.
The NGT has accommodated our some of the submissions where we pointed out that actual
problem is the production of plastic products contrary to the rules and regulations in force
and if we can check those violators we can control vast amount of problems arising out of
          Solid Waste Management.

The order states that the NCT Delhi, Delhi Pollution Control Committee and all Public HAREN SANGHAVI
Authorities/Local Bodies should ensure that sale, storage and use of such plastic at the shops.
If any person is found in possession or uses such carry bag of thickness less than 50 microns,
shall be liable to pay Environmental compensation of Rs. 5000/- per default. This is an interim
direction which would be changed appropriately, after hearing finally.

Such direction has been necessitated not only on facts as they appear in NCT Delhi but even
is the spirit of the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016.
