Topic : Plastic - The Wonder Material
Few words by PLASTIC,
“I am your wonder material, I am cheap and also superficial;
I am a boon to the mankind, I am also durable and kind.”
Plastic is a synthetic material made from a wide range of organic polymers such as polyethylene, PVC, nylon,
etc., that can be moulded into any shape while soft, and then set into a rigid or slightly elastic form.
Plastic is actually a wonder material. It has high durability. It is one of the very few materials which is able to
hold the three states of matter, viz., solid, liquid and gas. Ban on plastic has affected the life of the common
people adversely. Till present date, plastic has served the mankind with its wide range of applicability.
Ban on plastic has actually made the life of the civilians more difficult and worse. For each and everything, we
need to take carry bags made out of cloth or paper which are not suitable for liquid materials. There is no other
material which is as cheap and durable as plastic. Plastic is the need of the hour. It is the world's most popular
and necessary material used for packaging.
Plastic is very important in today's life. Its uses are varied.
Food and grocery materials are packed in plastic wrappers or bags. It is used in medical purposes, outfits and
clothes packaging is also done with plastic. Whether it is automobile industry or cosmetics packaging, it is done
with plastic. It is used in making of various articles of daily needs. Plastic pipes are used in place of metal ones
due to their durability and cheaper rate.
Nowadays, plastic has replaced the old wooden boards which required the cutting of trees. It is used in making
containers which are used to store things. Plastic toys have replaced old wooden and clay toys which were not
durable and fragile.
Due to its very unique and useful property i.e., bad conductor of heat and electricity, plastic is used as an
insulator. They are in the cell phones, television, computers and other electronic equipment that makes modern
life possible. They are in the roofs, walls, flooring and insulation that make homes and buildings energy-efficient.
Plastic is versatile, hygienic, lightweight, flexible and highly durable. Plastic is used in advertising industries
too. It is used in storage of various materials.
We need plastic in every common household work. It is the backbone of comfortability of modern lives. Till
now, there is no other alternative to plastic. In India, 99% of the articles, items and things are stored in plastic
containers. Thus, plastic has made our modern life more comfortable.
“Ban on PLASTIC means Ban on COMFORTABILITY.”
