'Advanced Technologies' at show

Recently HAIDLMAIR had introduced a new injection-moulding technology, called FDU and is Ajay Desai
developed by HAIDLMAIR Advanced Technologies. It involves basically a long, slender gate
for injection molds — instead of the traditional round gate — that reduces the shear at the
gate for an improved distribution of material. Haidlmair calls it the ‘FDU’ simply a flat die unit.

The FDU is an open hot-runner nozzle system that is installed in the injection-mould. A
distribution channel in the nozzle has been modified accordingly and projected onto a flat nozzle
and as such the material flow differs from the conventional injection moulding procedure. The
plastic flows evenly into the cavity through a long, narrow gap.

It seems to me that the FDU combines the benefits of injection moulding and extrusion: The
shear in the nozzle is reduced by up to half, which in turn considerably reduces shear warmth.
In some materials, such as polypropylene, a lower injection pressure can be achieved as well.
The homogeneous output of the material due to the slot geometry expands the process window
for injection, holding pressure and cooling. All of these items permit a drastic reduction of
the cycle time, which in turn has the corresponding positive effect on productivity. Hope this
will help our friends in the industry.

PVI 2017: The Show begins

The 10th edition of the Plastivision India 2017 has just begun and the sheer response that we
have received is for everyone to see. Spread over 90,000 sq.mtrs of Bombay Exhibition Centre
with over 1300 exhibitors, says much about it .

Hope all of you would agree to the fact that a lot of efforts goes (months in advance) in planning
and making of such exhibitions. Credit goes to all of them and of course, the exhibitors and
Patrons / trade visitors without them this would have been impossible.

PLASTIVISION INDIA (PVI) as you know is a triennial exhibition organized by AIPMA. This year
the exhibition was as great and successful. The prime objective of creating PLASTIVISION INDIA
is to help AIPMA members and its affiliated associations spread across India with technical
knowhow, networking, business opportunities, job creation and placement opportunities in
industry, and in understanding global trends and technological developments, promotion of
State Level Plastic Parks.

As expected by the organizers and the dignitaries of Plastic industries, the exhibition has
made its mark as one of the biggest international Plastics exhibition and thus, Plastivision has
emerged as a key exhibition in the Plastics Industry. It would be ideal to say that the show is
really a boost for the Plastic industry.

The 10th edition of the Show PVI 2017 is at its climax by the time this issue goes for print
however, we would carry the details of the exhibition in the forthcoming issues. I am sure
most of you would have enjoyed your time at PVI with a successful business interactions and
transactions as well.
