THE PRESIDENT SAYS
Greetings!!
On December 7, 2024, during a pre-budget consultation with Finance Minister
Nirmala Sitharaman, AIPMA President Manoj R. Shah and Governing Council
Chairman Arvind M. Mehta presented a strategic roadmap to enhance the global
competitiveness of India's plastic sector.
They highlighted that India's plastic industry employs over 4 million people across
50,000 processing units, with 85-90% being MSMEs contributing approximately
two-thirds of the sector's exports. To boost exports, they proposed Production-
Linked Incentives (PLI) for manufacturers and funding for strategic warehouses
to facilitate logistics. Additionally, they recommended increasing customs
duty on plastic finished goods to 20% to protect domestic manufacturers and
avoiding anti-dumping duties on essential inputs like PVC resins and Low-Density
Polyethylene (LDPE).
AIPMA is working effortlessly for the 2nd Global Conclave on Plastics Recycling and
Sustainability (GCPRS 2), scheduled for June 17-20, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam,
IECC, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The conclave aims to showcase advancements
in plastic recycling technologies, sustainable alternatives, and efficient waste
management solutions. It will feature an international conference on circular
economy and plastics recycling technologies, providing a platform for industry
leaders, policymakers, environmental experts, and the public to collaborate
towards a sustainable future.
AIPMA encourages stakeholders to participate in GCPRS 2 to explore business
opportunities, latest trends, and innovations in plastic recycling and sustainable
practices. The event is expected to attract global leaders in recycling, offering
insights into best practices and emerging technologies in the sector.
