THE PRESIDENT
THE PRESIDENT SAYS SAYS
In the midst of the terrain
t the outset I thank all the members are of the Plastics fraternity for electing me as President of
Athis prestigious organization. As a President, on behalf of AIPMA new body, our team focus on New
Investments in Plastics Industry, Plastic Parks/ Clusters developments, Recycling of Plastics and Technology
Assistance to the aspiring Entrepreneurs in co-ordination with CIPET and Union Government.
The consumption of Plastics per capita in India is 11 kgs as against the Global per capita consumption
of about 45 kgs, which is much lower. The increased focus on Infrastructure, housing, health and other
sectors have created many opportunities for Plastics industry. Plastics consumption/ usage is more in
Metro places, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi & NCR region followed by South Indian States. Central India
and East part of India has vide scope for Plastic industry. With the recent trends it is observed that many
investments are coming up in Eastern part of India. At the same time Plastic raw material production
facilities are also increased in Eastern part. State governments are emphasizing on new investments in
the respective states and they are providing support for MSME sectors. AIPMA Eastern region will focus on
development of Plastics industry & increase in per capita consumption of Plastics in Eastern part of India.
Majority of the Plastics processing industries are in MSME sector. The processors are Micro and Small JAYADEV MEELA
Enterprises. The major markets for all these industries are Urban Business markets. Logistics and
Market reach are the major factors in the success of Plastic Industries. Land availability and Land cost
are the major factors for all Plastic Industries. The Union Government Scheme on Plastic Parks will
enable the State Governments to set up Plastic Parks in their respective states. We at AIPMA wish to
establish a separate committee for Plastics Parks for co-ordination with State Governments as well as
Union Government. Any member or members of the association can approach the AIPMA office with their
proposal, so that the same can be followed-up with the respective bodies.
Plastics MSME sector require Technological assistance for their business competence in the present
competitive environment. AIPMA will work together with CIPET and MSDE (Ministry of Skill Development
and Entrepreneurship) in developing the Skilled Man power for Plastics Industry. AIPMA will initiate
suitable measures and will co-ordinate with the concerned departments for the task. Industry partners
and associate members are requested to provide their valuable suggestions, so that AIPMA can take up
the matter for the betterment of the industry.
Since last few years the Plastics Industry especially the MSME sector is facing with many problems.
Demonetisation, GST implementation and subsequent ban on Single use plastics has weakened the
Industry. As rightly said by Mr. Hiten Bheda, Past President, AIPMA, Single use Plastic definition is not
clear. AIPMA is concerned about the Industry as well as Environment. The problem need to be handled
in multi-dimensional methodology. Waste to Energy processes has to be developed for Single use Plastic
items and Municipal Waste on economical viable scale. Alternate affordable and environmental friendly
product need to be identified and developed. Above all Plastic Disposal mechanism and Plastics Waste
Segregation mechanism should be propagated on economically viable scale.
Unity is the Strength and it is the driving force for betterment. Many problems and issues can be resolved
with united efforts only. AIPMA require more members to rise its voice in many fronts for a collective
presentation and approach. It is the duty of each member to increase the membership of this prestigious
organization. I personally request each and every member to enrol at least a single member from their
end for the AIPMA membership, so that the present membership strength will increase significantly and
our voice can be effectively communicated.
