Webinar on "Laser Plastic Welding - A Roadmap for Engineers"
held on November 2, 2023
AIPMA, in partnership with Dukane Corporation, successfully conducted a webinar on "Laser Plastic Welding: A Road-
map for Engineers" on November 2, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm. The event delved into the intricacies of laser plastic
welding and highlighted Dukane's customer-centric approach to technology leadership.
Ms. Chetna Bodke, Manager of Events at AIPMA, started the program by introducing the evening's esteemed expert
speaker, Mr. Josh Brown, Global Sales Manager of Laser Plastic Welding at Dukane USA.
Dukane, a global manufacturer founded in 1922, has been privately held for over 95 years. The company's primary
manufacturing and distribution facility is located in St. Charles, Illinois, USA. Dukane is known for developing tailored
solutions that meet the unique needs of their customers, whether they have precise specifications or are starting from
a conceptual stage. With over five decades of experience, they provide cutting-edge solutions for even the most chal-
lenging welding requirements.
The webinar provided a comprehensive overview of Laser Plastic Welding, covering the advantages and disadvantages
of this technology, project roadmaps, various approaches to laser welding in the current market, and their technical
aspects, along with design best practices. Engineers, designers, and manufacturing leaders gained insights into avoiding
common pitfalls related to designing, beam properties, materials, and equipment selection strategies to mitigate poten-
tial issues. The session also highlighted different types of plastic laser welding processes, such as 1 micron and 2 micron
laser welding, and offered strategies for improving the laser welding process to achieve higher quality and productivity.
Mr. Josh Brown, the expert speaker, not only presented detailed information on the topic but also actively engaged with
the audience, addressing their queries and concerns.
