FROM THE EDITOR'S PEN

The Quick Change

Graham Engineering Corporation’s ?agship Graham wheel has introduced The Revolution MVP® system,
to its blow molding machine portfolio that comprises of two proprietary innovations; one a self-
contained, modular clamp design, and second, a variable pitch feature. Combined with the Quick-Change
mold system, this new design offers the precision and output of a Graham wheel with the versatility of a
shuttle. The Revolution MVP system offers unprecedented ?exibility from a simple change of molds, to a
change of height within a con?guration for running a different bottle, to completely changing the wheel
to a new con?guration with a different number of stations. Each clamp station is independent of the
others and all forces are self-contained within the clamp. Water manifolds through the platens
to facilitate a mold change, and individual clamps can be removed for of?ine maintenance to
reduce downtime. This modularity enables the user to vary the number of clamp stations from 12
to 24 on the same platform and con?gure the wheel based on the application and bottle height.

Variable pitch creates a multiplier effect, enabling up to 100 possible positions on the same

platform. This allows a range of bottle sizes to be run on a single platform and also provides

?ash optimization at each bottle height, particularly important for multilayer applications.

Each clamp station is adjustable from 39 to 47 inches (in 1-inch increments). It takes about ?ve

minutes per clamp station to vary the pitch with a simple mechanical adjustment. The Revolution

MVP offers unprecedented ?exibility and can be custom con?gured for a range of applications.

The system can comprise up to ten extruders in sizes from 40 to 175mm for monolayer, trilayer, AJAY DESAI
multilayer coex, or view stripe applications. Easy to start up, the Revolution MVP produces good

bottles in 4 or 5 revolutions, with a stabilized process in 10 or15 minutes. In-mold labeling (IML)

is available at rates up to 120 bottles per minute, and bottle takeout options include rotary or star wheel.

I think this will help to improve on the output precision for multi -bottles

Time for a change at the Desk

All of you would be aware that is the time wherein the term ends at AIPMA and the team would change.
At the outset I would like to thank everyone at AIPMA and all of our readers and patrons for helping reach
Plastic News, AIPMA’s monthly house journal to new dimensions and also for supporting in our various
endeavors. I would like to thank the President of AIPMA, Mr R K Aggarwal, Of?ce Bearers, Members of
the Managing Committee, and fellow members for their unconditional support for the past year that had
been full of happenings for us. I would also like to thank the entre team; My Associate Editor, Respected
Editorial team members, the Secretariat and the staff members of AIPMA for their continued support in
various activities for making the Plastics News a brand that matters for the industry.

As the Editor, I had the opportunity to represent the Association and Plastics News at various platforms be
it the B-2-B Industry Panel Discussions or Trade Shows like the K Show, ChinaPlas, Arab Plast, TAPMA , IPLEX
etc., that has helped immensely not only towards contributing for the industry but it has also served as a
learning curve helping me to understand the industry better and hone my skills as well.

It was an earnest effort, at my end, to make 'Plastics News' an interesting reading as you would have noticed
I had always discussed only on technology and more on to automations only for the sole purpose to enlighten
our readers as most of them happen to be processors. As you are aware ‘Plastics News’ is now digitalized
and can be read online as and when time permits you. We were devoted to ensure larger circulations of
our journal so as to provide better information to our fraternity across the country and with the on-line
version the reach has increased across the spectrum. You would agree to the fact that one needs to evolve
over a time and perhaps that’s the only way forward. We need to be contemporary amidst competition.

It was really a pleasure to be an Editor of Plastics News and I wish all the success to it...
