THE PRESIDENT SAYS

          The Pre-Budget Anticipations

My engagement this time with all the members is again in this unexpected season of Omicron which has
affected us all in term of our life and our routine business. With this new Omicron variant coming in, there
could be some disruptions in the business and also some demands rising specially for Plastics Healthcare and
medical products. Our Plastics Industry will play an important role to cater to the needs and save the people..
From AIPMA we wish everybody to stay safe and stay healthy.
With this Omicron variant and the disruptions giving adverse effects to the global business, I think we all must
gear to plan better and set ourselves to deal with the situation arising. AIPMA is here to help the members
if there is any issues. You can write to AIPMA and AIPMA will be there to cater and help you in the best
          possible manner.
Secondly, now it is also the season of Pre-Budget Memorandum and we already have prepared a brief outline
for our Industry needs. We have already represented to the Government. We request all the members to
send their suggestions, ideas and demand to AIPMA so that we can incorporate the same in the Pre-Budget
Memorandum and submit to the right people in the Government for due consideration. From our side we
have observed and endorsed that there should be some hike in the import duty of the Plastics finished products
to enable Indian Plastic Industry to have better margins and stop unwanted imports from other countries and
create demand for domestic market to boost our Indian Plastic Manufacturers to fill the gap.
Moreover, AIPMA feel that if there is rise in the import duties, in the current situation where already the
commercial prices are at much elevated level compared to last year and increasing raw material import duties
and some non-tariff barriers in terms of BIS Standards or anything could hamper the growth of our Industry
which we shall also be representing in the fullest energy.
PMO and Government has also called us for consultation to give the vision document for the year 2047 .
The ministry is working to chalk out future growth and Road Map of the Indian Plastics Industry. We request
members to give their feedback to enable us to give accurate feedback and the points which will propel the
growth for the Indian Plastics Industry. We also feel that going forward towards Technology Upgradation and
adapting of the latest global capacities are going to be the key for Indian Plastics Industry to grow and survive
in the global market place. Looking at these, we also have to do some brain storming discussions to chalk out
the way and I am sure that we will be integrating all our points and will come back with the good representation
and looking forward for a stronger plastic industry. We are also glad to inform all the members that AIPMA
will be taking the initiative of various Skill Development Programmes. We have been obtained a contract of
Haryana Government. Skill Development Programme which will be the key area where the Association will
be putting in all the efforts.
We were also planning for a Seminar on “Innovations in Plastic Industry – Explore Speed to Market – Import
Substitutions And Export Competitiveness” the 1st Seminar organized by AMTEC International Conference.
Which has been postponed to 24th March, 2022 at Courtyard by Marriott, Mumbai . It will be a showcase of
the strength and the activities of our AMTEC vertical.
During the seminar we shall be launching AMTEC Professionals Forum which will be first of its kind for
Indian Plastics Industry and our Association to connect with Professionals of the Plastic Industry and that
platform would be very important for us to go forward for the Professionals of the Plastic Industry to be
closely connected with the Plastic fraternity and AIPMA. This will enable assignments of our Plastic Industries
and executed in our AMTEC facilities and infrastructure along with having regular web meetings to exchange
ideas and discuss the technology developments and also circulate papers and important technical developments.
This is the new platform which will be giving value addition to the Indian Plastic Industry.
          Be safe, stay healthy....

                                                                             Kishore P. Sampat
                                                                         president@aipma.net
