Looking Forward For The Growth
Wishing a Happy New year to all our readers and I am sure most of you would be back to work
by now. Though the year ended on some mixed notes there was again this sporadic jump in the
number of omicron bringing back the confusion if not the fear, of the virus.
Once again the Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal assured all support to the exporting
community and said the exports target of $650 billion for both goods and services within the
current financial year is possible to achieve. He informed that during the current month till January
15, exports have touched $16 billion. "It is possible to achieve exports of USD 650 billion within
the current financial year... The USD 400 billion target of merchandise exports is within sight and
the services sector should strive for USD 250 billion exports," Goyal said, while chairing a review
meeting of all major export promotion councils (EPCs).
AIPMA has been following up with the PMO and Government has also called us for consultation
to give the vision document for the future. The ministry is working to chalk out future growth and
Road Map of the Indian Plastics.
Also with the Pre Budget sessions and overall inputs from various associations has been sought
and we have stated it clearly. AIPMA feels that if there is rise in the import duties in the current
situation, where already the commercial prices are at much elevated level compared to last year and
increasing raw material import duties and some non-tariff barriers in terms of BIS Standards or
anything could hamper the growth of our Industry. We have been a giving a patient hearing and
we are expecting a positive result. I am sure the industry would appreciate AIPMA’s efforts.
Also on a happier note I would like to share that one of our past President and fellow member Haren
Sanghvi’s GMS Plastic Machinery Pvt. Ltd has bagged Silver Award BW Businessworld‘Recycling For
a Greener Tomorrow, in the category on Innovations in Recycling Technology, and we wish him many
more accolades in future as well. In its first Edition Recycling for a Greener Tomorrow Conclave
& Awards aims to acknowledge and award the great work done in sustainability, environment, waste
management, recycling and up-cycling. The main focus of this event is to bring together like minded
people in Waste management, sustainability, environment and recycling domain.
Mechanized and professional waste segregation, whether it’s plastic, metal, e-waste or municipal
waste, is the need of the hour and we all must work collectively for the betterment of the industry.
