China Leads The Way
HINAPLAS 2018, the 32nd International Exhibition on Plastics and Rubber Industries staged
Cits grand opening in the National Exhibition and Convention Center, Shanghai, PR China.
The world class venue made the event remarkable for over 180,701 professional buyers
from all over the world who visited CHINAPLAS during the four days, to source machineries
and raw materials, and learn about advances in variety of plastics and rubber technologies.
The concurrent events were also well-received among visitors and most sessions were
fully occupied. Additionally, there were more than 120 global and Asian product launches
during CHINAPLAS 2018, which helped to inspire visitors with the host of new idea from this
technology-oriented show.
AIPMA was present at the exhibition with a delegation of over 80 visitors from across India.
In view of longstanding relation with the organizer’s ADSALE, AIPMA was rewarded with
memento for continuous presence of delegations to CHINAPLAS since 2001. HITEN BHEDA
A B2B business match making exercise was jointly organized by Plastivision India and CMEC
during CHINAPLAS which was attended by over 300+ people. The meeting generated
substantial business for Chinese manufacturers and was very rewarding for Indian buyers
with specific needs.
China’s plastic processing industry has evolved to maturity over the years which was
evident from the quality of machines displayed. It is also to be noted that the machinery
manufacturers have been embracing automation and IOT for enhanced productivity bringing
them at par with European machines. It was pleasant surprise to learn that in terms of
volumes, China’s injection molding manufacturers are now world leaders. There seems to
be subtle push for enhancement of quality on machinery as well as product front as seen
from displays at the booths.
Unlike India, the plastic processing in China has not seen harsh actions by the authorities
for environmental concerns and continues to grow giving support to China’s export oriented
economy. Absence of visible plastic pollution in spite of much higher per capita consumption
indicates well planned plastic waste management by the authorities facilitating industry
that actually serves and forms backbone for other segments of economy.
Back home, an Interactive Plastic Industry Meet was organised by AIPMA with Hon. Shri P.
Raghavendra Rao, IAS, Secretary, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of
India which was attended by officials from DCPC, Officials from Government of Maharashtra,
Delegates of AIPMA along with Representatives from various Organisations and Experts of the
Plastic Industry to discuss on various issues related to the potential growth of plastics industry,
Plastic Ban in the State of Maharashtra, issues related to PVC, EPR and implementation of
Waste Management Rules. We hope that the exchange will pave way for right policies for
growth of the segment.
