I am profoundly thankful for the trust placed in me as the President of AIPMA, and I extend my
heartfelt appreciation to all the members for granting me the privilege to lead this esteemed
association. I am fortunate to have a capable team of office bearers and staff, and I am confident
that together, we will function as a cohesive team to achieve our goals.
AIPMA has embarked on several vital initiatives within the industry. We have introduced special-
ized cells such as the BIS & FTA Cell, Export & Import Substitution cell, Environment cell, Data
center, and Digital library. These initiatives are aimed at addressing and eliminating concerns
within these areas, educating our industry members, and offering assistance with their queries.
We welcome all members to freely connect with us for any assistance they require in these seg-
ments.
The future of the Indian plastic industry appears to be poised for exceptional growth, allowing us
to reach our full potential. I am pleased to say that Plastivision 2023 will play an instrumental role
in this journey. PLASTIVISION INDIA 2023 is undeniably one of the most eagerly anticipated
exhibitions for the Indian plastics industry. It boasts global participation, showcases innovation,
attracts prominent industry figures, and draws a substantial influx of enthusiastic visitors, provid-
ing a unique opportunity for businesses to exhibit their innovations and forge valuable business
connections.
The event has received an overwhelming response, with over 1,500 exhibitors participating,
and approximately 30% of them are newcomers. This diverse mix of seasoned participants
and fresh faces will present their technological innovations and latest product lines. Extensive
preparations have been made to ensure the convenience of business visitors attending the show.
To generate widespread awareness and anticipation among potential visitors, several engaging
visitor promotion campaigns have been meticulously planned. As of now, roadshows have been
completed in several cities, with plans for roadshows in 30+ cities across India leading up to
the event.
Currently, the world is grappling with concerns related to the "Zero Draft of the International
Legally Binding Instrument on Plastic Pollution, Including in the Marine Environment." The inter-
governmental negotiating committee is tasked with developing an international legally binding
instrument on plastic pollution, which could include both binding and voluntary approaches.
This instrument aims to address the full life cycle of plastic, taking into account principles such
as those outlined in the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, as well as national
circumstances and capabilities.
In this context, AIPMA India has drafted a note to the government, emphasizing that the pre-
amble should not solely focus on the environmental drawbacks of plastics but should also un-
derscore the advantages of plastics. It is essential to highlight the significant economic benefits
derived from plastic usage, which have a profound impact on the economy and society's inclu-
sive growth. Plastics have not only revolutionized industries but have also improved food safety,
health security, and overall living standards.
Plastics, often scrutinized for their environmental effects, are a versatile and indispensable part
of modern society. It is imperative to acknowledge the myriad advantages of plastics, includ-
ing their significant economic contributions, particularly within the Indian context, where they
have played a pivotal role in advancing inclusive growth, ensuring food safety, and enhancing
health security. The widespread adoption of plastics has democratized access to a wide range of
consumer products by making them more affordable and accessible to the general public. This
transformation is supported by concrete evidence.
