The plastic industry has been continuously evolving with the advent of new technologies and
innovative solutions. The new facilities and the structure is making it more understandable and
providing a clear view to the industry members.
The ongoing topic currently which is in light for the new innovation is Biodegradable and
Compostable Plastics.
Biodegradable and Compostable Plastics with growing concerns about plastic waste and
environmental impact, there has been a significant push towards developing biodegradable and
compostable plastics. These materials can break down naturally and reduce their persistence in
the environment.
Biodegradable plastics are made from materials that can break down naturally over time when
exposed to certain environmental conditions, such as sunlight, heat, and moisture. These
plastics can be broken down by microorganisms into smaller compounds, which do not harm
the environment. However, it's important to note that the rate at which biodegradable plastics
decompose can vary depending on the specific material and the conditions present in their
disposal environment.
Compostable plastics, on the other hand, are a specific type of biodegradable plastic that meets
additional criteria. These plastics are designed to break down into natural elements in a compost
environment, typically within a certain timeframe (e.g., within 180 days). Compostable plastics
are intended to be composted in industrial composting facilities rather than home compost
bins, as they require specific conditions of heat, moisture, and microbial activity to properly
decompose.
It is worth noting that not all plastics labelled as "biodegradable" or "compostable" necessarily
meet standard requirements and certifications, and the use of these terms can sometimes
be misleading. Therefore, it is important to look for plastics that are certified by recognized
organizations, such as the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), to ensure their
true biodegradability or composability.
We are now a month away to witness the PLASTIVISION INDIA 2023, a highly awaited event in
the plastics industry, returning with even more grandeur as it draws near. The NESCO Ground
in Mumbai is bustling with preparations, boasting a remarkable 10 to 15% expansion in occupied
space compared to the previous exhibition, underscoring its growing appeal. With participants
from 20 nations, the upcoming PLASTIVISION INDIA 2023 demonstrates its global influence
and significance on an international level.
PLASTIVISION is surely one of the most anticipated exhibitions for the Indian plastics industry.
Its global participation, innovation on display, prominent industry figures in attendance, and a
substantial influx of enthusiastic visitors provide a truly unique opportunity for businesses to
showcase their innovations and cultivate valuable business connections. The stage is set for
PLASTIVISION INDIA 2023 to leave a lasting impact this year.
Wish you all a Happy Vijayadashmi and Happy Diwali in advance.
