I thank the President, office bearers team and the managing committee for re-
appointing me as the Editor for Plastic News Magazine.
As we start our journey with our new president, many possible opportunities are
lighting up. With the vision of our President Mr. Manoj R Shah, we are on the path
to the growth of Indian Plastic Industry as the coming session is full of new in-
formative conferences and seminars for the plastic fraternity.
Currently, The Indian plastics market is expected to grow at a healthy rate, sup-
ported by government initiatives like Make in India, rising consumer demand, and
increasing investments in R&D. However, managing the environmental impact of
plastic production and waste will be critical to ensuring the industry’s sustainable
growth. As the industry being at a crossroads, balancing growth with the need for
sustainable solutions while challenges like environmental concerns and regulatory
changes pose hurdles, innovations in recycling, bioplastics, and smart materials
present opportunities for a brighter, greener future. India, with its robust manu-
facturing base and growing focus on sustainability, is well-positioned to play a
pivotal role in this evolving landscape.
As we move forward, it is essential that industry players continue to innovate,
collaborate, and invest in technologies that drive sustainable growth. AIPMA, as
a representative of the Indian plastics industry, will continue to support these ef-
forts, fostering dialogue and innovation to ensure the future of plastics is both
prosperous and responsible.
In the coming future, we are also looking at the increase in exports. AIPMA has
initiated Export cell with a target to increase the exports of Finished plastic Prod-
ucts from current Rs. 40,000 Cr to Rs. 1,60,000 Cr. by FY 2028-2029. We have
launched a study to identify opportunities to increase Indian exports of finished
goods in selected top countries and also looking at the opportunities to tap in
new countries as well. As a result, setting up of an Export cell with industry ex-
perts will be very useful to guide members for What, Where & How to export and
new market. We have also conducted a study of import substitute plastic finished
goods to curb import which will provide an opportunity to Indian manufacturers
to make import substitute products.
Let’s take a step together to contribute in the growth of Indian Plastic Industry
and push it a little closer to make it stand globally.
I wish you all a Happy Diwali and Prosperous New Year!!
