The Indian plastic industry stands as one of the leading sectors in the country's economy,
contributing significantly to its GDP and employment. With diverse applications across various
sectors such as packaging, agriculture, automotive, construction, and healthcare, the plastic
industry plays a pivotal role in India's industrial and economic landscape.
There is a contribution of several factors to the growth of the Indian plastic industry i.e Rapid
urbanization, rising disposable incomes, expanding middle-class population, and the growing
e-commerce sector have fuelled the demand for plastic products, particularly in packaging and
consumer goods segments. Additionally, technological advancements, such as the adoption of
automation and Industry 4.0 practices, have enhanced operational efficiency and product quality,
further stimulating growth.
To capitalize on emerging opportunities, the Indian plastic industry are increasingly focusing on
innovation and sustainability. Efforts are underway to develop eco-friendly alternatives, such as
biodegradable plastics and bio-based polymers, to reduce the environmental footprint of plastic
products. Furthermore, initiatives promoting waste segregation, collection, and recycling are
being implemented to enhance resource efficiency and minimize plastic pollution.
Looking ahead, AIPMA is organising The Global conclave on Plastic Recycling and
sustainability (GCPRS) from July 4th to 7th 2024. It is a first ever dedicated exhibition on
plastic recycling and sustainability in India. The exhibition is a platform for showcasing business
opportunities, focusing on the latest trends and innovations in plastic recycling and sustainable
practices, offering numerous prospects for trade in various sectors.
The focal point of the exhibition is to showcase innovative recycling technologies, sustainable
alternatives such as biodegradable and compostable plastic and efficient waste management
solution. Apart from the exhibition, the event will also feature International conference on
circular economy and plastic recycling technologies. Participation of more than 50,000+
business visitors, 400+ exhibitors is estimated to be present at the ground.
