Wishing you all a Happy Independence Day.
On this 75th Independence Day, our honourable Prime Minister had announced ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’
campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage people to carry tiranga home
and hoist it to commemorate the occasion. Every Indian has raised the Tiranga in accordance with
this campaign, AIPMA felt really fortunate to celebrate this Independence Day.
In 1945, AIPMA started as an association with only few members but now it has become an apex
body for the plastic industries in India. It is been led by more than 22,000 members and stakeholders.
Through the years AIPMA has expanded and progressed by leaps and bounds in all fields of Plastics.
Even AIPMA has come a long way but the objectives of AIPMA still remains same - to provide
necessary support to our members in their problems related to the government legislations, to keep
them informed and updated about the new technologies and advancements, to organize webinars,
seminars and conferences in order to create awareness about the best practices available in the market
etc.
Till now, AIPMA has taken part in various activities to maintain stability in environment like
starting plastic collection drive to create awareness among young generations regarding how plastic
is collected, segregated and disposed. We are planning on building the park at Uttan in the Thane
district of Maharashtra. This park will be made by using 75000 Eco-bricks.
In light of the SUP prohibition, AIPMA is assisting the plastics industry in every way we can.
AIPMA has requested Ms. Leela Nandan, Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and
Climate Change Department, to include stretch film in the list of products that may be permitted
to be made below the thickness of 50 microns.
Stretch films are used to pack and safeguard a variety of products, including loads stacked on pallets
and large-scale individual items. Since it offers much-needed functionality and there are currently
no alternatives that can equal it, this product is not prohibited globally for the intended purposes.
However, technical constraints prevent the production of larger gauge versions of this product.
AIPMA along with Flexible Packaging Industries and Traders Association (FPITA) has launched a
collective EPR Activity to facilitate members’ EPR obligations.
AIPMA engages Waste Management Companies, who acts as an execution partner and is responsible
for complete EPR from Collection to Recycling. After successful completion of the process, AIPMA
issues a Certificate of Recycling / Co-processing to the registered members which ensures the
fulfilment of EPR requirement of the member’s company for a specified quantity and period.
It has been a great pleasure to see the growth of AIPMA since the date of its establishment and I
appreciate all the efforts that have been put by everyone to expand this apex body.
