Dear Industry friends,
This year has perceived a lot of changes in regards to the plastic industry.
Ranging from the government's policies and campaign on phasing out single use
plastics, definition of single use plastic, proposals on the changing import
duties & what not. The plastic industry was already going through a tough
phase & now the Covid Pandemic has substantially changed the industry
ecosystem of the global plastic industry. Since the beginning of the pandemic,
AIPMA has been taking exceptional efforts to help the MSME's and put forth
their problems and issues in front of the government. AIPMA has never stepped
back from its responsibilities.
Conducting daily webinars on various topics for the betterment of the Industry
has been another remarkable step. We have conducted more than 15 webinars
in the month of May and plan to conduct many more in the month of June. In
today's time, where we are not allowed to commute or begin our businesses, JAGAT KILLAWALA
these sessions give us an opportunity to learn and gather knowledge from
experts and apply the same for the success of our business. Manufacturers who
understand and act on this new normal will have ample opportunities for
growth. Plastics Industry is no exception.
The unemployment figure in India would be high up due to economic slowdown
that had shown signs much before the pandemic outbreak. However, it is my
prime concern that millions of skilled and unskilled workers who were
contributing to the petrochemical industries are not lost. We should be able to
bridge the gap between qualified and unqualified workers, train, upskill and
re-skill them for the new opportunities, as we know that the POST COVID world
will be riding on a new wave of revolution in many aspects of method and
enhanced machine innovation.
In the view of this, AIPMA in collaboration with RSDC organised a webinar on
'What a new world will look like in terms of SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE INDUSTRY-
(Post Covid-19 Scenario): Short & Medium Term.
Further, I am proud to be a part of the plastic industry and the role it is playing
during the pandemic. The masks, gloves, Field shields, sanitizer pumps etc.
have been playing a significant role in providing safety to our frontline workers
and protecting them from the virus.
I assure you that we are trying our best and keep doing so by representing the
industry in front of the government and in helping the industry to get it's due
importance.
Thanks and best regards,
Jagat Killawala
