Dear Members & Industry Friends,
I am glad to engage with you again and write this message. In this message, I shall be covering two
aspects. One is the outcome of several meetings with DCPC, our Parent Ministry and secondly, more
important is the feedback on the Industry outlook and growth which we received after interaction
with several major players and stakeholders of the Plastic Industry.

We had several meetings with our parent Ministry DCPC, Madam Arti Ahuja, Secretary, DCPC
and her team in her Delhi o ce on two occasions and also a very close interaction with more than
25 industry Associations at Hotel Radisson on 27th May, 2022 at Mumbai which was hosted by
AIPMA. Among the several issues that were discussed and highlighted was on the prime Agenda
of the Ministry to support the recycling clusters in India by creating common facilities centres
with the funding from MSME ministry and AIPMA will support this initiative with a full strength
by bringing Presidents of All recycling clusters under one roof and bridging the gap between the
          Ministries.
ere were two major demands which were accepted by the Ministry of all the industry leaders
which AIPMA will be pushing forward at the common demand for all Industry Associations under
the umbrella of AIPMA. First demand being that the GST on Plastics scrap should be brought
down to 5% as it was earlier and the second demand was that the exemptions and bene ts of the
CSR funds of Companies should be allowed for investments in building plastics waste collection
and segregation infrastructure and creation of recycling facilities. Madam Arti Ahuja promised the
industry that she will take these two demands to the concerned Ministry and try her level best to
bring it into reality. ere were several other initiatives and task which were identi ed for AIPMA
and other Associations to get into data collection and analysis and create a report which will be
needed for the growth path ahead of the Plastic industry.
I, along with GC Chairman – Mr. Arvind Mehta and seniors of AIPMA visited IPLAS Exhibition at
Chennai and had the opportunity to interact with big players and several stakeholders and the clear
message that emerged was Growth, Growth, Growth of the plastic industry. Majority of the MNCs
who were machine manufacturers and said currently their annual demand for injection moulding
machine is around 10,000 units. However, by 2030, the annual demand of injection moulding
machines would be around 30,000 units. e major boost to the processing sector and the demand
daily coming from these sectors i.e. the electric vehicles. e battery cases for the batteries of EV
is a very big opportunity for the Plastic Processors to venture into. e second big demand will be
coming from the Toy sector, due to the support and the focus of our PMO and Atmanirbhar Bharat
policy. e third big sector that will be generating demand will be the Medical Sector, disposable
items like syringes would be needed in India. Today we are depending on 30% medical disposables
for population of 132 Crores that would be needed. In fact, we also gathered the feedback that
today we are importing around 45,000 crores of nished products and 1,00,000 crores of raw
materials annually. Yearly total of Rs. 1.50 lakh crores of imported plastics is coming in India of
Raw Materials and Finished Products and by 2028 or 2030 this import will be more than Rs. 3 – 3.5
lakh crores. us, it is forecasted that after Petroleum then Chemicals and Plastics would be biggest
item of import. Looking at the national interest and to cater the demand of the Indian Consumer
we have to be ready and gear up to bring the processing capacity.
With this I conclude this message by saying GROWTH, GROWTH, GROWTH up to 2030 for
          Plastic Industry.
                                                                                  anking you,
                                                                             Kishore P. Sampat
                                                                          president@aipma.net
