The All Indian Plastic Manufacturers Association (AIPMA) and Tamil Nadu Plastic Manufacturers Association (TAPMA)
jointly organized a workshop on EPR Registration Process for Manufacturers, Importers and Owners brand (PIBO) and
Plastic Waste Treatment House (PWP) on 22 April 2023 in Chennai. The workshop is a joint initiative of the plastics
association that aims to provide necessary guidance and help the industry understand the entire application process, as
issues and concerns have been repeatedly raised by industry members. The event was set up to address industry con-
cerns with face-to-face interaction between the industry and the association.
The EPR workshop was attended by 80 industry members, including PIBO and PWP. The workshop speakers were
Hiten Bheda (AIPMA Environment Committee Chair) and Shailendra Singh (AIPMA Environment Committee
Member). Mr Singh explained how the EPR portal, developed by CPCB, works, followed by an interactive session in
which participants raised doubts and questions in front of subject matter experts. Questions were very well addressed
by Mr. Bheda and Mr. Singh.
The workshop was a great success as the majority of participants were satisfied with the program schedule as it helped
them better understand ERP and the registration process on the ERP portal. AIPMA plans to organize more such
workshops in various cities to provide knowledge and provide guidance to the industry so that they can easily
adopt and comply with the PWM Rule, 2016
