Dear Readers,
As the curtains draw on India’s first recycling & sustainability show - GCPRS Exhibition,
I am delighted to share with you the highlights and achievements of this remarkable
event. The exhibition has proven to be a pivotal platform for innovation, networking,
and the exchange of ideas within our industry.
GCPRS, held from 4th to 7th July 2024, Co-organized by AIPMA and CPMA, GCPRS
brought together industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers to address critical
challenges and showcase advancements in plastic recycling technologies. The event
was attended by over 275 exhibitors and 25,000+ business visitors. I congratulate all
the office bearers and team AIPMA for the successful completion of this exhibition.
The sheer diversity and ingenuity showcased by our exhibitors were truly inspiring.
From cutting-edge technologies to sustainable solutions, the array of products and
services on display was a testament to the relentless pursuit of excellence that char-
acterizes our sector. I extend my deepest gratitude to all the exhibitors for their in-
valuable contributions and also to all the visitors who attended the show.
On the terms the Indian plastic industry in 2024 is witnessing substantial growth and
transformation, driven by advancements in technology, increasing demand, and a
shift towards sustainability. Here are some key aspects of the industry’s status:
1. Market Growth and Demand:
Expansion: The Indian plastic industry continues to expand, with increasing demand
from various sectors such as packaging, automotive, healthcare, and construction.
Consumption: The per capita consumption of plastic in India is rising, reflecting the
growing utilization of plastic products in everyday life.
2. Technological Advancements:
Innovation: There is a significant focus on innovation and the adoption of advanced
manufacturing technologies such as automation, 3D printing, and AI-driven process-
es.
Quality Improvement: Technological advancements are contributing to improved
product quality and increased production efficiency.
3. Sustainability Initiatives:
Recycling: The industry is placing a greater emphasis on recycling and waste manage-
ment, with numerous initiatives aimed at reducing plastic waste and promoting the
circular economy.
Biodegradable Plastics: There is a growing interest in biodegradable and composta-
ble plastics as part of the efforts to reduce environmental impact.
4. Government Policies and Regulations:
Regulatory Framework: The government has introduced stringent regulations and
policies to address plastic waste management, including bans on single-use plastics
and incentives for recycling and sustainable practices.
Supportive Measures: Various schemes and support measures are being implement-
ed to encourage the growth of the plastic industry, particularly for small and medium-
sized enterprises (SMEs).
