A very eminent Panel discussion was headed by Ms. Vandana, Director, DCPC and Shri Chinmay
Dwivedi, Head of Committee on plastics standards in BIS. Ms. Vandana requested the industry to be
aware of what is being discussed in UN Treaty and not to be taken by surprise when certain resolution
is being adopted to be followed. Mr Dwivedi was very open on making the BIS standard for plastics
and invited the stakeholders to be part of making of standards and bring their issues to BIS which are
the pain points of industry.

The panel discussion generated lot on interest and
interaction among the audience.

Overall success of the 3rd GCPRS.

The 3rd GCPRS ended on a very positive note where

event had a record footfall of over 25000 visitors.

One could feel the wave of change through which the recycling industry is passing. The recycling
industry in embracing Technogym upgradation. On display there were recycling machinery such as
Shredder, Washing units. Drying units, Colour sorting of Plastics, plastic wise sorting, Complete PET
recycling lines from waste bottle to granules or fiber etc. All these machines are being used in the
recycling sector.

Even the stake holders are actively doing recycling. For example, UFLEX, manufacturer of multilayer
is doing recycling of Multilayer. M/s Supreme industries, Producer of Polystyrene and EPS is doing
recycling of Thermocol. M/s Chiripal, producer of PET is doing recycling of PET bottles.

The scale of operations of recycling has gone up very high. Majore recyclers like LUCRO, Jageram,
Ganesha Ecosystem and Banyan Nations have taken the scale of operation to a different level. To
60-100,000 MTS of recycling. Some of them have their own network of collection centers for waste.

The Plastics recycling space is undergoing a gradual shift form Informal to Formal and form manual
labor intensive to Technology driven.

It is at an inflexion point. The sector can leapfrog from here with right policy intervention.
