Address by Ms. Mercy Epao, Joint Secretary, Ministry of MSME, Government of India

Ms. Mercy Epao appreciated the participation of the industry and noted that the willingness of
entrepreneurs to devote their time to such a conference was an encouraging sign. She outlined the
forthcoming changes under the MSME Act, including the salient provisions of the new MSME Bill,
and explained the wide range of support available to MSMEs through government schemes. These
include support for start-ups, women entrepreneurs, participation in domestic and international fairs,
marketing, capacity building, first-time exporters and the broader objective of a self-reliant India.
